The European Union has not yet clarified whether the observation mission at the Armenia-Azerbaijan border will continue.

Axar.az reports that this was stated by the EU Ambassador, Vasilis Maragos.

He did not clarify whether Armenia had petitioned for an extension of the mission period. The decision on the extension of this mission has not been finalized yet, but they are working on that matter, and it is under discussion with the Armenian authorities, the EU envoy said.

It should be noted that in February 2023, 100 civilian observers were first sent to Armenia to monitor the conditional border with Azerbaijan. After several months, their number was doubled. The mission's mandate is set for two years, and its term will expire in three months.
