On November 19, the head of the Administration of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, the chairman of the Organizing Committee for COP29, Samir Nuriyev, met with the delegation led by Mrs. Anaklaudia Rossbach, the executive director of the United Nations Settlement Program (UN-HABITAT), who was on a visit to our country within the framework of COP29.

Axar.az reports that at the meeting, A. Rossbach congratulated Azerbaijan on the organization of COP29 at a high level and wished our country success in its presidency.

S. Nuriyev noted with satisfaction the cooperation between Azerbaijan and UN-HABITAT and the inclusion of the topic of urbanization among the priorities of the agenda of the COP29 Chairmanship of our country.

In the meeting, the successful organization of the National Urban Development Forums in Agdam city in 2022, Zangilan in 2023 and "World Settlement Day" events in Baku were highlighted within the framework of the beneficial cooperation between Azerbaijan and UN-HABITAT.

S. Nuriyev said that Azerbaijan, which has great experience in organizing global and regional events at a high level, will host the 13th World Urban Development Forum, one of the most important events of the UN, in May 2026, which is a manifestation of effective cooperation between Azerbaijan and UN-HABITAT.

A. Rossbach highly appreciated the support and voluntary financial contributions of our country to the activities of UN-HABITAT.

The meeting also discussed the reconstruction and restoration of the territories freed from occupation, the work carried out in the direction of ensuring the sustainable settlement of former IDPs there, and the issues of cooperation with UN-HABITAT in this field were discussed.

In addition, a detailed exchange of views was held regarding preparations for the World Urban Development Forum planned to be held in Baku in 2026.
