At the Upper Lars checkpoint on the Russian-Georgian border, approximately 1,400 Armenian-registered trucks are waiting in line to cross.

Axar.az reports, citing Armenian media, that 3,512 trucks from various countries are registered in the queue, of which 1,387 are from Armenia.

The traffic jam was caused by a sharp increase in the flow of tourists from Russia to Georgia and Armenia. On some days, the waiting time at the border can be up to 8 hours. The traffic jam begins even before the Georgian “Daryal” checkpoint.

It should be noted that the Mtskheta-Stepantsminda-Lars international highway remains the only operating land route connecting Armenia with Russia.
