Azerbaijani wrestler reaches World Championship final

Azerbaijani freestyle wrestler Giorgi Meshvildishvili (125 kg) has reached the final of the World Championship in Zagreb, Croatia.

Axar.az reports the athlete faced Poland’s Robert Baran in the semifinal and came out on top, securing a place in the decisive bout. The medal matches will be held today.

Meanwhile, Nureddin Novruzov (61 kg), Kenan Heybatov (70 kg), and Arseniy Djioyev (86 kg) were eliminated in the earlier rounds.

The championship will conclude on September 21.
