Former Red Star footballer Dejan Milovanovic passed away during today's match while playing for the Red Star veterans against PKB.
Axar.az informs, citing foreign media, "Dear club representatives, a few minutes ago, during a veterans' match, Dejan Milovanović, a player of FK Zvezdara, passed away. For this reason, the next (extraordinary) round, which was supposed to be played on September 18, will be postponed," the Veterans League said in a statement.
Milovanovic (41) fell ill during the match, an ambulance arrived soon after and the resuscitation attempt at KBC Zvezdara lasted more than an hour, but Milovanovic died, Mozartsport reported.
Milovanović was born on January 21, 1984 in Belgrade. He began his career with the youth teams of Red Star Belgrade, and made his debut for the first team in 2001. He was the captain of Red Star Belgrade, with whom he won three championship titles and four Cup trophies.
He left Red Star for Lens in 2008, and from 2011 to 2013 he played for Panionios. He ended his career in Voždovac in 2014.
He played 23 games for the Serbian youth national team and scored six goals, and played two games for the senior team.
