Mbappe: I'm ready to play against Azerbaijan

I want to play.

Axar.az reports, that these words were spoken by Kylian Mbappe, a striker for the French national team, at a press conference held before the match against Azerbaijan in the qualifying round of the 2026 World Cup.

He said that head coach Didier Deschamps is in favor of him playing:

"The coach wants it too. I don't think there will be any big problems. I feel good. I will train today; this will be the last test. I have no particular concerns."

He also spoke about his desire to score goals for our team and the possibility of reaching Olivier Giroud, the all-time top scorer for the "roosters":

"I can score goals against any team. Azerbaijan drew with Ukraine. Every game has its own truth. This match is no less or more valuable than the match with Iceland. The challenge is to qualify for the World Cup. We have to fight until the end, mathematically. Every game has its own truth, and tomorrow we have to win.

I think I will surpass Giroud. When? I don't know, I don't think about it too much. Maybe tomorrow, who knows? The most important thing is to qualify for the World Cup. It will happen by itself, I will be happy when it happens, and I will continue on my way."

It should be noted that the France - Azerbaijan match will be held on October 10 at 23:00
