Azerbaijani wrestlers win two more medals

The U-23 World Championship continues in Novi Sad, Serbia.

Axar.az reports that two more Azerbaijani wrestlers have taken the podium.

Elmir Aliyev (55 kg) faced Russian Alibek Amirov in the final. Our wrestler took revenge on his opponent, whom he lost to in the semifinals of the U-23 European Championship, 3:2. Thus, Elmir became the world champion for the first time in his career.

The next victory came from Ruslan Nurullayev (72 kg). Our wrestler, who defeated Ukrainian Oleg Khalilov with a score of 3:1 in the consolation match, went on to defeat Armenian Gaspar Terteryan with the same score in the bronze medal match.

A day before the end of the Greco-Roman wrestling competition, our team set a new record for the number of medals. Thus, our national team won 2 gold medals at the U-23 World Championship for the first time. It should be noted that yesterday, Ziya Babashov (63 kilograms) climbed to the highest step of the podium.

It is worth noting that the World Cup will conclude on October 27.
