Former Azerbaijan international detained in Turkiye

Ismayil Karakash, a former player of Azerbaijan’s U-17 and U-19 national football teams, has been detained in Turkiye.

Axar.az reports Turkish media reported that the 26-year-old footballer was arrested as part of an investigation into illegal betting in Turkish football.

Karakash currently plays for Erciyes 38, a club in Turkiye’s fourth division.

Born in Trabzon, Karakash has played for several Turkish clubs and appeared in 11 matches for Azerbaijan’s U-17 team and 3 matches for the U-19 team.
