Azerbaijan appoints new Greco-Roman Wrestling coach

The Azerbaijani Greco-Roman wrestling team has parted ways with head coach Alexander Tarakanov.

Axar.az reports that, according to the Azerbaijan Wrestling Federation (AWF), the cooperation between the parties ended by mutual agreement.

The AWF expressed its gratitude to the Russian specialist for his contribution to Azerbaijani wrestling and wished him success in his future activities.

It should be noted that under the leadership of A. Tarakanov, who has been the head coach since October 2019, has led the national team to become two-time European and two-time world champions, as well as winning one bronze medal at the Tokyo 2020 and Paris 2024 Olympic Games.

The Azerbaijan Wrestling Federation has entrusted this post to Iranian Mohammad Bana.
