Karim Benzema refuses to play for Al-Ittihad

Al Ittihad and Saudi Pro League star Karim Benzema is reportedly unhappy with the terms of his new contract, raising doubts over his future at the club.

Axar.az informs, citing foreign media, a former Ballon d’Or winner who joined Al-Ittihad in the summer of 2023 is nearing the end of his contract, which expires in June.

According to reports, the French striker decided not to take part in the club’s match, which ended in a 2–2 draw with Al Fateh on Thursday.

Benzema has personally informed club management of his decision, which reportedly stems from dissatisfaction with a new contract offer from the Saudi side that he felt amounted to playing for free.

The move marks a new stage in talks over his future.

Tensions between Benzema and Al-Ittihad remain high, and his refusal to play is seen as a strong signal to the club’s leadership.
