Neymar obtained Italian citizenship

Brazilian star Neymar has obtained Italian citizenship, according to Italian journalist Schira, marking a potential development in the forward’s international legal status.

Axar.az reports, citing Football News, that Neymar officially became an Italian citizen on May 15 with assistance from a legal firm, allowing him to acquire an Italian passport while retaining his Brazilian nationality.

This would give him easier mobility within the European Union while keeping eligibility for the Brazilian national team.

Neymar, who previously played for FC Barcelona and later for Paris Saint-Germain, had attempted to obtain Spanish citizenship during his time in Spain, but the application was not completed following his transfer to France.

The development has not yet been officially confirmed by Italian authorities or Neymar’s representatives.
