Azerbaijani taekwondo player Gashin Magomedov has started competing in the "Paris-2024" Summer Olympic Games.

Axar.az reports that the athlete, who performed at 58 kilograms, met Irishman Jack Walley in the 1/8 finals. Our taekwondo player, who defeated his opponent with a score of 2:0 (7:4, 12:6), qualified for the next round.

It should be noted that currently Azerbaijan has three medals. Judokas Hidayat Heydarov (73 kilograms) and Zelim Kotsoyev (100 kilograms) became Olympic champions, while boxer Alfonso Dominguez (92 kilograms) secured at least the silver prize by qualifying for the finals.

Magomedov, who defeated his opponent, advanced to the semi-finals. Our representative won 11:5 in the first half and 13:11 in the second half.
