Paris-2024: Azerbaijani boxer fights for the gold medal

Today, two Azerbaijani freestyle wrestlers and a rhythmic gymnastics team will start competing in the Summer Olympic Games held in Paris, the capital of France.

Axar.az reports that our rhythmic gymnastics team will perform first. The team consisting of Zeynab Hummatova, Darya Sorokina, Laman Alimuradova, Gullu Aghalarzade, and Yelizaveta Luzan will demonstrate their skills with hoops (12:00) and ribbon (13:10).

Among our wrestlers, Turan Bayramov (74 kg) and Giorgi Meshvildishvili (125 kg) will take to the mat. They will face Egyptian Diaeldin Abdelmottaleb and Albanian Chermen Valiyev respectively in the 1/8 finals. Wrestling competitions will start at 13:00 Baku time.

In addition, boxer Alfonso Dominguez (92 kg) will hold the final match. He will try to break the resistance of Uzbekistan representative Lazizbek Mullojonov in the match for the gold medal. The fight is scheduled for 00:34 on the night of August 9-10.

Note that Paris-2024 will end on August 11. Until now, judokas Hidayat Heydarov (73 kg) and Zelim Kotsoyev (100 kg) have become Olympic champions. Taekwondo player Gashim Magomedov (58 kg) won a silver award. Our Greco-Roman wrestler Hasrat Jafarov (67 kg) won the bronze medal. Boxer Alfonso Dominguez (92 kg) secured at least a silver medal by advancing to the finals.
