Azerbaijani para-taekwondo athlete Imamaddin Khalilov has had his first match at the Summer Paralympic Games held in Paris.

Axar.az reports that the athlete, competing in the 70-kilogram weight category of the K44 division, faced Cuban Suares Walker Me in the quarterfinals.

Defeating his opponent, I. Khalilov advanced to the semifinals.

The athlete, competing in the 70-kilogram weight category of the K44 division, faced Uzbek Javokhir Alikulov at this stage.

Our world and European champion defeated his opponent with a score of 7:2 and advanced to the final.

It should be noted that Azerbaijan is represented by 18 athletes in 7 sports at the competition, which will continue until September 8. Yesterday, para-taekwondo athlete Sabir Zeynalov (58 kg) won a bronze medal for the national team.
