Tural Sariyev from Azerbaijan's national boxing team won a silver medal in the 48 kg weight category at the European Championship held in Sofia, Bulgaria.

Axar.az reports that it was stated by the Azerbaijan Boxing Federation.

Sarıyev defeated Lasha Kereselidze (Georgia) and Samet Oruj Salihi (Turkiye) in the first two rounds but lost 4:1 to Luis Rooney (Ireland) in the final, finishing the tournament in second place.

This is the second medal for Azerbaijan’s national team at the championship. Earlier, Marjona Savriyeva (50 kg) secured a bronze medal.

Two more Azerbaijani boxers will compete in the finals today.
