Elon Musk said on Monday that his AI startup, xAI, will take legal action against Apple, accusing it of antitrust violations in the App Store rankings.

Axar.az reports that Musk claims Apple’s practices make it “impossible” for AI companies other than OpenAI to reach the top position, citing ChatGPT’s dominance in the U.S. App Store and Google Play rankings.

xAI’s Grok currently ranks fifth in Apple’s “Top Free Apps,” while Google’s Gemini is far lower.

Musk also criticized Apple for excluding X and Grok from its “Must Have” section, suggesting political bias. Apple, OpenAI, and xAI have not commented. The dispute comes amid growing regulatory scrutiny of Apple’s App Store practices, including a recent U.S. court referral for criminal contempt and a €500 million EU fine for breaching competition rules.
