Today, Pakistan’s Independence Day was celebrated at the country’s embassy in Azerbaijan.
Axar.az informs the event was attended by embassy staff, as well as members of Azerbaijan’s public and media.
The ceremony began with the raising of the Pakistani national flag, followed by readings of messages from Pakistan President Arif Alvi and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, highlighting the day’s significance for the people of Pakistan. Prayers were also offered for the country’s peace, prosperity, and development.
Speaking at the event, Pakistan’s Ambassador to Azerbaijan, Qasim Mohiuddin, noted that today is the day when, in 1947, our founding fathers were able to successfully create a separate homeland for the Muslims of the Subcontinent:
"The wave of hatred being unleashed by the Modi regime in India and Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir is a testament to the farsightedness of our forefathers.
Today, thanks to Allah, is a historic day. It is historic because we are also celebrating Marka-e-Haq (the Day of Truth).
In May of this year, Pakistan's armed forces gave a befitting reply to India's aggression.
It is a very proud moment not just for Pakistanis, but also for our Azerbaijani brothers and sisters.
The Modi regime in India is still struggling to recover from the disgrace and humiliation that it continues to face to this day due to its lies, deceit and policies of hatred.
Pakistan will always appreciate and remember the steadfast support that the government and the people of Azerbaijan extended when Pakistan was under attack by India.
After Pakistan's decisive victory against India's aggression, the world saw how, on 28th May of this year, a day special for both Azerbaijan and Pakistan, Pakistan, Azerbaijan and Turkiye celebrated together in Lachin.
Just as Azerbaijan continued its successful pursuit for the liberation of Karabakh, Pakistan too continues to stand for the freedom of Indian Occupied Jammu and Kashmir.
Time has proved that the wise and prudent policies of Honorable President Iham Aliyev were successful in liberating Karabakh. We hope that one day the people of Indian Occupied Jammu and Kashmir will also be able to live a life free from India's tyranny.
Long live Pakistan-Azerbaijan brotherhood!"
