Uzbekistan sends Note to Russia over taxi driver abuse -

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan has sent an official note to the Russian Foreign Ministry, demanding that the man filmed insulting a taxi driver from Uzbekistan be identified and held accountable under the law.

Axar.az informs this was reported by the Uzbek MFA spokesperson Akhror Burkhanov.

According to Burkhanov, Uzbekistan’s Foreign Ministry “constantly monitors information circulated on social media and in the media,” and when such incidents are detected, it engages with the competent authorities of foreign states.

“In particular, an inquiry is underway into the case that sparked wide public outcry in August. In this regard, an official note was sent to the Russian MFA to establish the identity of the man captured on video and to take legal action,” the spokesperson stated.

He added that citizens of Uzbekistan remain under the protection of the state regardless of their place of residence.

The published footage shows a man shouting at a taxi driver, using obscene language and insults: “You are a slave, a slave of Russians! You found nothing in Uzbekistan, so you came here. You are not at home — you came to work, so work!”
