Italian athlete Angela Carini made a radical decision after a controversial fight with Algerian transgender Iman Khali. She decided to quit boxing for good.

"I leave with my head held high and bid farewell to boxing," Carini stated.

It should be noted that their confrontation took place in the round of 16 at the Paris Olympic Games. The fight ended 46 seconds after it started. The reason was Carini's inability to withstand the strength of her transgender opponent's punches. According to media reports, Carini said, "I am in terrible pain, I don't want to continue." When the referee was preparing to raise Iman Khali's hand in the center of the ring, Carini shouted, "This is unfair! This is unfair," and then refused to shake hands with her opponent.

It should also be noted that before the final of the 2023 World Boxing Championship, Khali failed a gender test that showed the presence of XY chromosomes. Nevertheless, the athlete was allowed to participate in the Paris Olympic Games.
