The annual “Royal Windsor Horse Show,” traditionally held in honor of members of the Royal Family of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, has come to an end.
Axar.az reports that this information was provided by the Equestrian Federation of the Republic of Azerbaijan.
It was noted that, thanks to the special attention of President Ilham Aliyev and the support of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation led by First Vice-President Mehriban Aliyeva, significant work has been done and important steps have been taken to preserve and promote Karabakh horses — a national treasure of Azerbaijan — on the international stage.
Since 2012, Azerbaijan has been invited to participate in the Royal Windsor Horse Show, which has become an important platform for showcasing our ancient and unique culture. The unique show programs and performances presented annually by our delegation have become an indispensable part of this magnificent event.
Supported by the Heydar Aliyev Foundation and organized by the Azerbaijan Equestrian Federation, the State Border Service’s cavalry unit and dance ensemble once again successfully represented our country at the Royal Windsor Horse Show. Their performances, reflecting our ancient history and traditional costumes, captured the audience’s attention and sparked great interest.
During the event, the music performed on our traditional instruments, the energetic dances by the “Sarhadci” dance ensemble, and the displays of bravery and skill by the State Border Service’s cavalry unit on Karabakh horses earned great admiration from the British audience. Throughout the daily 20-minute shows, our riders stood out for their high professionalism and precision.
As part of the event, two valuable works of art reflecting our country’s rich culture were presented, and the information provided to guests about the Azerbaijan Pavilion, organized by the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, was met with great interest.
Later, a painting by the renowned artist Elnur Mahmudov was gifted to King Charles III of the United Kingdom, while a handmade carpet by artist Aygun Nagiyeva was presented to the Duke of Edinburgh, Prince Edward.
At the climax of the event, the “Land of Fire – Azerbaijan” polo team secured a brilliant 12-10 victory over the “Guards” polo team, representing Windsor, UK.
At the end of the match, Mr. Reto Gaudenzi, President of the International Polo Federation, and Mr. Elchin Guliyev, President of the Azerbaijan Equestrian Federation, congratulated the “Land of Fire – Azerbaijan” team in the arena, marking the conclusion of this prestigious event.
