At least eight people were killed and several others injured in a school shooting Tuesday in the southern Austrian city of Graz.
Axar.az reports, citing NBC, Austria's interior ministry confirming that several people had been killed at a Graz school.
A police operation was underway at the BORG Dreierschützengasse school, a secondary school located in the northwest of the city, Austrian police said in a series of posts on X.
The police added that several emergency services, tactical units and a helicopter had been deployed to the area. “The situation is secure. No further danger is expected,” it said in a post on X.
Police spokesman Fritz Grundnig told Austrian public broadcaster ORF that police had evacuated the building after gunshots were heard.

A meeting point was set up for the students’ parents at the ASKO football stadium, the police said.
It was not immediately clear whether the suspected perpetrator was among those injured.

Nearly 30 people have been hospitalized following the school shooting in Austria.
According to the Kronen Zeitung newspaper, 28 injured people are currently being treated in hospitals. At least four of them are reported to be in critical condition.
