First Deputy Minister of Defense - Chief of the General Staff of the Azerbaijani Army, Colonel General Karim Valiyev, met with a delegation led by the Chief of the General Staff of the Italian Armed Forces, General Luciano Portolano, who is visiting Azerbaijan.

At the official welcoming ceremony organized at the General Headquarters of the Azerbaijani Army, after passing in front of the guard of honor, the National Anthems of both countries were played, and the "Book of Honor" was signed by the protocol.

Noting that the existing relations between Azerbaijan and Italy in the military field are of particular importance, K. Valiyev stressed the importance of such visits for the purpose of exchanging mutual experience.

General L. Portolano expressed satisfaction with the current state of cooperation between the countries and said that this would contribute to the development of the armies.

The meeting discussed further strengthening of cooperation between Azerbaijan and Italy in the military, military-technical, and military education fields, development prospects, and a number of other issues.

The parties expressed confidence that the cooperation will continue successfully in the future.

Then the Italian delegation visited the Cybersecurity Center. The guests were provided with detailed information about the activities carried out to ensure the cybersecurity of modern weapon systems and information technology equipment included in the armament of the Azerbaijani Army, as well as artificial intelligence-based cyber defense tools against cyber threats.

Then the guests visited the Air Force Combat Management Center and got acquainted with the conditions created here. They were given a briefing on the structure, working principles, and direction of the center.

Finally, the "N" military unit of the Special Forces (STF) was visited.

The Italian representatives were provided with detailed information about the military unit. After familiarizing themselves with the military unit, the guests watched exemplary performances by the STF members on combat training.
