The number of deaths has reached 11 following an explosion in the gunpowder workshop of the “Elastik” factory in Shilov district, Ryazan region, Russia.

Axar.az informs that the regional operational headquarters’ press service reported:

“Three people were rescued from the rubble yesterday evening and last night. The death toll has reached 11,” the statement said.

A total of 130 people were injured, 29 of whom were hospitalized. The victims received necessary medical assistance.

Currently, efforts are ongoing to eliminate the consequences of the explosion.

A fire broke out after the explosion in the gunpowder workshop. The Investigative Committee has opened a criminal case regarding violations of industrial safety requirements. A state of emergency has been declared in the Shilov district, where the facility is located.
