A trial in absentia has issued an arrest warrant for Bashar al-Assad in connection with the 2011 events in Daraa.
Axar.az reports that Judge Tofiq Ali informed SANA about the decision.
According to him, the arrest warrant against the deposed regime includes charges of intentional homicide, torture resulting in death, and other accusations: “The court’s decision allows for the issuance of a ‘red notice’ worldwide via Interpol and the initiation of an international investigation.”
It is noted that Bashar al-Assad, who became Syria’s president in 2000, was overthrown by armed opposition forces on December 7 last year.
