A shooting occurred in the city of Kryvyi Rih, Ukraine. It is reported that Yevgeny Ponyrko, the president of the local Sambo Federation, was killed in the incident.
Axar.az reports that Ukraine’s “24” TV channel reported this with reference to the Dnipropetrovsk regional police.
“A murder took place in the Pokrovsky district of Kryvyi Rih. The victim may be Yevgeny Ponyrko, president of the local Sambo Federation. Another person was injured,” the channel’s website stated.
Witnesses said they heard seven gunshots. The injured man was taken to the hospital, but no details about his condition have been released.
An investigative team and forensic experts arrived at the scene.
The shooter’s identity has not yet been determined, and an emergency “Siren” plan has been declared in the city. The Dnipropetrovsk Regional Prosecutor’s Office announced that a criminal case had been opened for intentional homicide.
At the same time, the Dnipropetrovsk regional police shared a statement on their Telegram channel:
“Kryvyi Rih police are working at the scene of the murder in the Pokrovsky district.
According to preliminary information, an unidentified person shot a local resident. The man died instantly from his injuries. Another person was injured.
Investigative measures are underway to identify the perpetrator.”
