Drone hit Italian-US base in Kuwait, no injuries reported

This morning, the Ali Al Salem base in Kuwait, which hosts U.S. and Italian capabilities and personnel, was targeted in a drone attack that struck a shelter, inside which was housed a remotely piloted aircraft of the Italian Air Task Force, which was destroyed.

Axar.az reports that this was stated by Italy’s Chief of Defense Staff, General Luciano Portolano, on his X.

"At the time of the attack, all personnel were safe and were not involved," he wrote.

"The Italian component of the Air Task Force had been proactively reduced in the past few days as part of measures adopted in response to the evolving security situation in the area. Personnel remaining at the base are employed to carry out the essential activities of the mission," Gen. Portolano continued.

He added that "the aircraft that was hit represented an indispensable asset for operational activities and had remained deployed at the base to ensure the continuity of operations."

"The situation is constantly monitored by the Chief of Defense Staff and the Joint Operations Headquarters," he said.
