Fidan: US-Iran ceasefire may be extended if agreed

The two-week temporary ceasefire between Washington and Iran may not be sufficient, and if both sides agree, it could be extended.

Axar.az reports, citing Anadolu, Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan said this during a joint press conference with his Syrian counterpart, Asaad al-Shaibani, following talks in Ankara.

"We hope and strive for these negotiations to start in good faith and reach a result. The world needs it, the region needs it. Both Iran and America are capable of doing this, and regional countries are ready to contribute constructively in every way," Fidan said.

He added: "We hope to establish a new security and peace architecture in the region, including normalizing relations between Iran and Gulf countries on a stronger basis. As Turkiye, we are ready to take an active role in this process and provide all necessary contributions."
