Sharif holds call with UK PM Keir Starmer

Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif held a telephone conversation with British Prime Minister Keir Starmer.

Axar.az reports that Sharif shared details of the call on his account on the social network X.

Sharif said he received a warm call from Starmer and expressed appreciation for the UK’s support for Pakistan’s diplomatic efforts that helped facilitate a ceasefire between Iran and the United States and advance dialogue.

He also welcomed a joint statement by key European and international leaders, including Prime Minister Starmer, endorsing Pakistan’s peace initiatives.

The sides agreed on the importance of sustaining the ceasefire to create conditions for lasting peace and stability in the region.

They also discussed ways to further strengthen Pakistan–UK relations across all areas of mutual interest. Sharif added that he looks forward to welcoming Starmer to Pakistan.
