4.6 magnitude earthquake hits near Tehran

A 4.6 earthquake has struck the capital of Iran in the early hours of Wednesday.

Axar.az informs, citing Mehr News Agency, the quake struck an area in the northeast of the Iranian capital of Tehran on the border between Tehran and Mazandaran Provinces.

The quake struck at exactly 11:47 a.m. (local time) and shook the ground for nearly 10 seconds. The depth of the quake was almost 10 km from the ground surface.

Red Crescent and rescue team were on alert following the quake.

There was no immediate reports of any casualties.
