13 crew members evacuated after cargo ship takes on water off Turkiye’s Kastamonu.

Axar.az reports, citing Turkish media, that the Palau-flagged commercial cargo ship SVETOSLAVA began taking on water in its engine room while sailing off Doganyurt district in Kastamonu.

The vessel was about 26 nautical miles from the coast when the crew issued a distress call after the water level began rising.

İnebolu Coast Guard Command dispatched the TCSG-96 and KB-40 boats to the scene and safely evacuated all 13 crew members to İnebolu Port.

The crew members were taken to İnebolu State Hospital for medical checks and were later discharged in good condition.

According to İHA, 11 of the crew members were Azerbaijani citizens, while one was a Turkish citizen and another was a Russian citizen.
