EU Commission President Ursula von der Leyen said the European Union is bringing Armenia closer to the bloc while working toward a peaceful and prosperous South Caucasus.

Axar.az reports that Von der Leyen made the remarks in a post on X addressed to Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan following their meeting.

She said the EU is building roads and bridges in Armenia through a €200 million connectivity package, while also making investments aimed at fostering ties between people.

According to von der Leyen, the EU’s Autonomous Trade Measures will create new opportunities, with 80% of Armenia’s exports to the EU market now eligible for tariff-free access.

"We expect the final adoption of these measures by EU legislators tomorrow - in record time!" Leyen noted.

Von der Leyen also said the EU is working to strengthen Armenia’s energy security, adding that the EU-Armenia partnership is “moving fast, forward and stronger than ever.”
