A prison worker was killed in a shooting in Amsterdam, the capital of the Netherlands, on Friday, police said.

Axar.az reports, citing NL Times, that the shooting took place shortly after 3:05 p.m. on a café terrace at the crowded NDSM-Kade along the IJ River. Police said that one person has been taken into custody.

Authorities have not disclosed a possible motive or the identity of the suspect.

The incident prompted a major emergency response, with police and paramedics arriving at the scene. The area was cordoned off as investigators searched for a weapon.

Investigators are continuing to work at the scene.
