Russia to finance gas pipeline via Azerbaijan

Iranian Ambassador to Russia Kazem Jalali said that the construction of a gas pipeline that will enable gas supplies from Iran to Russia will be financed mainly by Moscow.

Axar.az reports, citing Russian media, that Jalali made the remarks in an interview with the newspaper Vedomosti.

He clarified that the gas pipeline would run through Azerbaijani territory and thanked those supporting the project.

“The financing will largely come from Russia. But we are all working together on this project — all three countries: Russia, Iran and Azerbaijan,” he said.
