Canada rules out full EU membership

Canadian Foreign Minister Anita Anand said that Canada does not intend to become a full member of the European Union.

Axar.az reports, citing foreign media, that when asked directly whether Canada could join the EU in the future, the Foreign Minister did not endorse membership — but she made clear that Ottawa sees Europe as one of its most important strategic partners.

“Canada is not interested in becoming a full member of the European Union. And at this stage, we are not adding any specific label or designation to our relationship with the EU,” she said.
