Bryansk Region Governor Yegor Kovalchuk has signed a decree appointing Sergey Melikov as a senator in the Federation Council representing the Bryansk Region.

Axar.az reports, citing Russian media, that the decree was published on the website of the regional government.

“Sergey Alimovich Melikov is hereby vested with the powers of senator of the Russian Federation, representing the executive body of state authority of the Bryansk Region, effective September 29, 2026,” the decree states.

The powers of his predecessor, Vadim Dengina, have been terminated.

Earlier, in addition to Melikov, Kovalchuk had proposed Bryansk Region Federation of Trade Unions Chairwoman Olga Polyakova and acting Deputy Governor Andrey Frolenkov as candidates for the Senate seat.
