Magnetic storms expected to hit Earth on Friday

Weak to moderate geomagnetic storms are expected to hit Earth on Friday following increased solar activity, according to meteorologist Mikhail Leus of the Phobos weather center.

Axar.az reports that Leus said on his Telegram channel that several M-class solar flares were recorded this week, with two of them producing relatively large plasma clouds directed toward Earth.

According to international forecasting centers, the clouds are expected to reach Earth early Friday. Geomagnetic disturbances could last for about two days, with G1-G2 level storms possible on October 9. The probability of geomagnetic storms is estimated at around 80%.

The geomagnetic field is expected to return to calm conditions by Sunday.
