Russian President Vladimir Putin awarded the title of Hero of Russia to the commander of the Central Military District, Colonel-General Alexander Lapin, and the deputy commander of the 8th Army of the Southern Military District, Asadulla Abachev.

Axar.az reports that Putin said that he will sign the order today during his meeting with Defense Minister Sergey Shoigu.

"I agree with your proposal to award the title of Hero of Russia to the commander of the Central Military District, Colonel General Lapin, and the deputy commander of the 8th Army of the Southern Military District, Major General Abachev. The relevant decree of the President will be signed today," Putin said.

It should be noted that yesterday the forces of the Central Military District under the command of Colonel-General Alexander Lapin together with the forces of the Southern Military District occupied Lisichansk.
