We do not recognize the Taliban, even if Russia does

The USA does not intend to recognize the Taliban as the legitimate government of Afghanistan.

Axar.az reports that John Kirby, the Strategic Communications Coordinator of the White House National Security Council, stated this.

"We do not recognize the Taliban as the official leadership of Afghanistan and we will not," he said.

He also mentioned that the possibility of Russia recognizing the Taliban would send a negative signal to others.
