Checkpoints were established around Astana

Law enforcement agencies of Astana set up checkpoints around the city to ensure security during the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) summit on July 3-4.

Axar.az reports that Marat Kojayev, Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs of Kazakhstan, said this.

"In connection with the summit, the police have switched to a strengthened work mode. There are checkpoints around the city, strategic institutions are under guard," Kojayev said.
