Former Chinese defense ministers Wei Fenhe and Li Shanfu have been expelled from the ranks of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) for violating party discipline.

Axar.az reports that the decision was made at the meeting of the political bureau of the Central Committee of the CCP held on June 27.

Both former ministers are suspected of abusing their official powers and accepting large sums of bribes. The disciplinary and supervisory body of the Central Military Council, the supreme governing body of the People's Liberation Army of China, concluded the investigation it started last year against the former ministers and sent the case to the military prosecutor's office.

The Central Military Council recently removed former ministers from military service and deprived them of the rank of general.

It should be noted that Wei Fenhe served as China's defense minister from March 2018 to March 2023, and Li Shanfu from March 2023 to October 2023.
