Pezeshkian nominates new Cabinet Ministers

Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian today presented the names of the ministers he proposed to the Iranian parliament for a vote of confidence.

Axar.az reports that according to the information, Abbas Araghchi has been nominated for the post of Foreign Minister, Aziz Nasirzade for the post of Defense Minister, Eskander Momeni for the post of Interior Minister, Mohsen Paknejad for the post of Oil Minister, and Abbas Aliabadi for the post of Energy Minister. It is reported that the Iranian parliament will hold sessions on August 17 regarding the vote of confidence of ministers.

In the second round of the extraordinary presidential election in Iran, held on July 5, the representative of the reformist camp, Masoud Pezeshkian, won with almost 16.4 million votes. His rival, Saeed Jalili of the conservative camp, received 13.5 million votes.

To note, on May 19, a helicopter carrying former Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi, Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian, Tabriz Province Imam Ayatollah Ali Hashim, and East Azerbaijan Province Governor-General Malek Rahmati crashed while flying from Khudafarin to Tabriz, and the Iranian President and the entire accompanying delegation were confirmed dead.
