As we have reported, Israel has carried out a cyberattack on Lebanon. As a result of the attack, nearly 4,000 people, including the Iranian ambassador, have been injured, and 11 people have died.

Axar.az reports that the explosion of pagers due to the cyberattack has brought these devices into the spotlight.

A pager is a wireless telecommunications device. Messages are transmitted to it via the radio transmitter of a paging network. To send a message to a pager, one usually needs to dial the operator's phone number or give their name and dictate the message.

One-way pagers can only receive messages, while response pagers and two-way pagers can receive, reply to, and create messages using an internal transmitter.

Pagers were developed in the 1950s-1960s. They were widely used in the late 1990s and early 2000s. The widespread use of mobile phones and smartphones with text messaging capabilities significantly reduced the use of pagers. However, some emergency services and public safety personnel continue to use pagers, as they are more reliable than mobile networks: they are harder to eavesdrop on and the person carrying them is more difficult to track.
