Immediately after the overthrow of Bashar al-Assad's regime in Syria, the country's state flag was changed.

Axar.az reports that the old flag, which consisted of red, white, and black stripes with two green stars, has been replaced by a new flag with green, white, and black stripes and three red stars.

The colors of the flag are traditional Arab colors. Green represents the first Rashidun Caliphate, white symbolizes the Umayyad dynasty, and black represents the Abbasid dynasty. The first star on the flag symbolizes Aleppo, Damascus, and Deir ez-Zor; the second star symbolizes Jabal al-Druze; and the third star represents Latakia.

It is noteworthy that the new flag was first adopted as the state flag during the era of the First Syrian Republic under the French mandate in 1930.
