The authorities in Transnistria have rejected European gas and even humanitarian aid from the West in the context of a communal crisis caused by the suspension of gas supplies from Russia.
Axar.az reports that this information was published by Politico.
The publication, citing correspondence between Chișinău and the separatist-controlled "Tiraspoltransgaz" enterprise, emphasizes that this refusal is likely not the initiative of the separatists themselves but rather an order from Moscow:
"Although hundreds of thousands of people in Transnistria are left without heating and hot water in their homes, the local 'authorities' have rejected alternative gas supply offers that do not come from Russia. The 'Moldovagaz' company offered assistance to the separatists by purchasing gas from European platforms to meet local needs. In response to this offer, it was stated that this would mean switching to speculative terms with significantly higher and unstable prices compared to steady supplies from Gazprom.
Transnistria currently receives no gas from Russia or Moldova. Moldovan officials say that the separatist leadership is refusing humanitarian aid, particularly generators."
A source in the Moldovan government confirmed the authenticity of these documents and added that the firm stance of the separatists is likely directed not by local leaders but by Moscow.
