Russian state nuclear corporation Rosatom will file a lawsuit against German company Siemens over its failure to deliver the prepaid equipment for unit 1 of the Akkuyu nuclear power plant (NPP) Rosatom is building in Turkiye.

Axar.az reports that the corporation's CEO, Alexey Likhachev, stated this in an interview with Russian media.

"Even though the advance was paid, the equipment was not delivered. This led to extra expenses for both acquiring and installing the equipment. We intend to file a lawsuit regarding this matter," he emphasized.

It should be noted that Siemens violated its contractual obligations for supplying equipment to Turkiye's Akkuyu NPP, and negotiations with the company yielded no results. Subsequently, all necessary components were sourced from countries friendly to Russia.

Siemens suspended its operations in Russia in March 2022, following the start of the special military operation in Ukraine.
