China welcomes Trump’s remarks as a New Starting Point

China expressed its willingness to reset relations with the United States under President Donald Trump after he referenced China on several issues during his inauguration day. Trump emphasized the need for cooperation on bilateral trade and the future of TikTok.

Axar.az reports that while criticizing Beijing for allegedly exploiting unfair advantages, including climate commitments, contributions to the World Health Organization, and control over shipping rates at the Panama Canal.

Trump also signaled openness to visiting China this year and spoke with Chinese President Xi Jinping in a call on Friday. The conversation was described as constructive, focusing on balancing trade, addressing fentanyl concerns, and discussing mutual goals.

Liu Pengyu, spokesperson for the Chinese Embassy in the U.S., welcomed the opportunity for improved relations, emphasizing the importance of mutual respect, peaceful coexistence, and cooperation. Liu stated, "China is willing to work with the new U.S. government to maintain communication, strengthen cooperation, properly manage differences, and promote greater progress in China-U.S. relations."

China hopes the dialogue between the two nations' leaders will pave the way for more stable and productive ties.
