March 21 holiday proposed in Turkiye

A draft law on declaring March 21 an official non-working day in connection with the Novruz holiday has been submitted to the Turkish Grand National Assembly (TBMM).

Axar.az reports that the initiator of the normative act is Sarkhan Bayram, a deputy from Istanbul of the ruling Justice and Development Party.

Today, the Novruz holiday is widely celebrated in many countries of the world, including the Turkic states. This holiday symbolizes a new day, the revival of nature. Novruz is also a symbol of unity and brotherhood. For Turks, Novruz is equal to the Ergenekon epic,” the deputy said.

S. Bayram said that as a deputy of the Turkish Grand National Assembly and UN Messenger of Peace, he proposed to the parliament to declare March 21 an official non-working day in Türkiye.

It should be noted that the proposal was put forward by Turkish leader Recep Tayyip Erdogan.
