Turkish Armed Forces launched offensive on Manbij city

The Turkish Armed Forces and the Syrian National Army launched an offensive on Syria’s Manbij city.

Axar.az reports referring to the Turkish media.

Presently, Manbij, which is one of the main strongholds of terrorists, is regularly subjected to rocket attacks, the report said.

On Oct. 9, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan announced the beginning of a new military operation ‘Source Spring’ in Syria.

“A new anti-terrorist operation entitled ‘Peace Spring’ is being conducted in northern Syria,” Erdogan added.

The president stressed that Turkey will completely destroy the hotbeds of terrorism in northern Syria.

On Oct. 7, Erdogan said that in anticipation of the beginning of new military operations by the Turkish Armed Forces in northern Syria, the US servicemen began to leave the region.

On Oct. 1, Erdogan noted that Turkey will have to create the safety zone in northern Syria alone.

Turkey and the US came to an agreement on the creation of a safety zone in northern Syria on August 7.

On Jan. 20, 2018, Turkish Armed Forces, together with the Free Syrian Army, launched the Operation Olive Branch in Afrin, Syria.
