Dr. Klugge's warning: We are in the middle of a hurricane

Despite the spring weather, we are at the epicenter of the hurricane. The number of cases of COVID-19 in the region has doubled in the last 10 days, reaching about one million people, and 84,000 people have died.

Axar.az informs that, the director of the World Health Organization's (WHO) Europe Office, Dr. Hans Klugge, made the announcement at a briefing in Geneva.

Klugge spoke of the need to avoid hasty measures to ease restrictions imposed in connection with the pandemic.

The head of the WHO regional office said that the number of cases of COVID-19 has slowed in recent weeks in a number of countries most affected - Germany, Italy, Spain, France and Switzerland. However, he noted with concern that the virus is spreading rapidly in Belarus, the United Kingdom, Russia, Turkey and Ukraine. WHO Europe Director Hans Krügge has warned that the coming weeks will be crucial for Europe.
