China approves state-owned Covid-19 vaccine

Chinese health regulators have given conditional approval to a coronavirus vaccine developed by a state-owned company on the anniversary of the virus first being reported to the World Health Organisation.

Axar.az reports citing foreign media that the two-dose Covid-19 vaccine is the first approved for general use in China, and comes as the country has started to vaccinate 50 million people before the Lunar New Year holiday in February.

The approval came exactly one year since officials in Wuhan reported pneumonia of unknown cause to the WHO China Country Office.
